Many parents are unable to provide the basic school supplies their children need to be effective and comfortable in school. To ensure that low-income and foster children in grades K-12 start the school year with the tools they need to feel prepared and ready to learn, InterWest offices in Chico, Merced and Woodland organized backpack and school supply drives. New backpacks full of essential, grade-appropriate school supplies were delivered to children served by the following organizations.
CASA of Merced County
Boys and Girls Club
Catalyst
Esplanade House
Torres Shelter
New Morning Shelter
E Center
Yolo County Foster Youth
Thank you to everyone who donated and participated in helping to bring joy and learning to those in need. A very special thank you to our colleagues who organized and spearheaded these drives in their office.
Dan DiMeo & Kirsten Starmer-Chico | Kathy Dorantes-Merced | Erica Morris-Woodland
And a HUGE thank you to our Chico backpack drive partners Kleen Kanteen and Shawna Batham, founder of Project School Ready. Project School Ready delivered 254 backpacks this year with 88 of those coming from our Chico office. Fantastic job everyone!
